OUR HISTORY

As a 100% New Zealand-owned and operated company, Altranz has a long history in the transport industry, racking up a massive 45 years of experience. 

Kevin Lochore (Angus’ dad) started out in 1975 as a small civil contracting operator, building up a fleet of civil machinery including tippers, and his first truck, a Butterbox International.

While developing his business over the next couple of decades, Kevin’s son Angus was following his own dreams, building up his trucking business starting out with his first truck – an Isuzu 240.

Chance came knocking when the pair saw an opportunity to collaborate and fill a gap in the market for meat transport. As Angus puts it, “I had the trucks and Dad had the work.”

Growing the business alongside growth and innovation in the meat industry, Angus and Kevin merged their businesses in 1995, growing to a fleet of 60 trucks at their largest.

With Kevin stepping back to semi-retirement in 2008, and the GFC having an impact, Angus decided to pivot the business and exit the meat industry while focusing on supporting key customers to grow.

He’s since built up Altranz to be the transport and logistics company it is today, with a fleet of 25 tucks delivering nation-wide and offering awesome customer care.

In recent years sons Sam and Matt have joined their Dad in the business as the third generation, learning the ropes and working across driving, mechanic and dispatch roles, getting ready to take the family business forward for the next 45 years.

MEET OUR TEAM

ANGUS LOCHORE

General Manager 

Transport is in Angus’ blood. Growing up alongside his Dad’s civil contracting company, Angus has been around machinery his whole life, driving trucks since he was 6 years old. At 17 he bought his first truck – an Isuzu 240, and has since grown the Altranz business to what it is today. Known for his attention to customer care and his friendly, straight-up nature, Angus heads the Altranz team, overseeing operations, customer relationships and business development. He’s always keen for a chat, unless he's fishing, diving or hunting, in which case he'll call you back!

SUSIE LYNDON

Office Manager 

Susie is our Office Manager, working alongside Angus and the guys to keep things running smoothly. She has lots of experience in administration, having ran two of her own businesses as well as working in various administration roles throughout her career. She takes responsibility for accounts payable and receivable, payroll and staff administration, implementation of new office systems, and generally sorting anything to do with the office. Outside of work, Susie likes to spend time with family and friends as much as possible.

MATT LOCHORE

Diesel Mechanic / Driver 

Matt is Angus' younger son, and works for us as a Diesel Mechanic and Driver. He went to Hamilton Boy's High School and finished in 2017, before joining us fulltime in the business. He enjoys spending time in our workshop and learning off our senior diesel mechanics. Matt also loves to get on the road when he can and complete deliveries when needed. Outside of work, Matt loves the water and loves to head over to the Coromandel to get out on the boat to fish, dive and waterski whenever he can.

SAM LOCHORE

Dispatch / Driver / 'Tea Maker'

Sam is Angus' eldest son, working 50% in the office as our second dispatcher and 50% on the road driving trucks. His job split allows him to be at the coal-face and work accross the Altranz business. He has grown up in the company, working alongside Dad Angus and learning the ropes. Sam finished school in 2015 at Hamilton Boys High School and did a stint agricultural contracting, before joining Altranz to take up a driving and dispatch role. Outside of work, Sam likes to spend time fishing, doing water sports and hanging out with mates.
